Twenty-eight Jewish centres across the US evacuated after bomb threats



WASHINGTON — Some 30 Jewish institutions in at least 17 states have received bomb threats, Jewish security officials said, in the second wave of such mass disruption in two weeks.

Paul Goldenberg, the director of Secure Community Networks — an affiliate of the Jewish federations of North America, which advises Jewish groups and institutions on security — said 30 threats were called in Wednesday to Jewish community centers. Media reported additional threats called into schools and other Jewish institutions. 

Oko 30  židovskih institucija u najmanje 17  USA država  primilo je prijetnje bombom, kazale su osobe zadužene za sigurnost- to je drugi val takvih događaja u posljednja dva tjedna. 

Paul Goldenberg,  direktor  Secure Community Networks , koja je član  Jewish federations of North America i savjetuje  židovske grupe i institucije kako da se osiguraju, rekao je;  u srijedu je bilo 30 poziva s prijetnjama  za centre  židovskih zajednica . Mediji su još javili o dodatnim prijetnjama školama i drugim institucijama. Nisu pronađeni krivci ali je zapažena povećana aktivnost na društvenim mrežama, osobito od krajnje desnice,neonacista i "supremacista" . Taj oblik prijetnji je nazvan "telefonski terorizam" kojim se širi uznemirenje i strah.

The Sabes JCC in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota was evacuated after a bomb threat was called in around 10 a.m.

News reports across the country described similar scenes. Preschoolers being evacuated in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and West Hartford; sniffer dogs in Scotch Plains and Maitland, Florida, near Orlando.

“We need to be providing a lot more training, specifically on how to respond to bomb threats,” Jarvis said. “The longer you can keep someone on the phone, the better.”

“While we’re extremely proud of our JCCs for professionally handling yet another threatening situation, we are concerned about the antisemitism behind these threats,” he said in a statement. “While the bombs in question are hoaxes, the calls are not.”
