Antonio Tajani elected new president of the European Parliament

Italian conservative Antonio Tajani has been elected the new president of the European Parliament. He defeated another Italian, Gianni Pitella, and will take over from Germany's Martin Schulz.
Tajani secured 351 votes, against 282 for Pittella, a socialist. .
Martin Schulz is leaving the European Parliament to return to German national politic..
The European Parliament has the power to block or amend EU laws, and will have the final say on whether to approve a Brexit deal with the UK.
Antonio Tajanim, talijanski konzervativac, je izabran za novog predsjednika Europskog parlamenta. Tajani je star 63 godine i pobijedio je drugog Talijana Giannija Pitella ( koji je socijalist) jer je osigurao 351 glas (282 Pitelli). Martin Schulz napušta Europski parlament i vraća se u Njemačku.
