povratak imovine u Poljskoj

Primili smo od Claims conference slijedeći dopis:

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to inform you about an important resource for Holocaust survivors and their families who owned property in Warsaw, Poland, and who previously filed property claims with the City of Warsaw, after the Holocaust, under a law known as the Warsaw Decree, that permitted such claims to be made after 1945.

New Polish legislation will enable the City of Warsaw to terminate claims if claimants do not come forward within a particular time period.

A new page on the World Jewish Restitution Organization’s (WJRO) website provides information for Holocaust survivors and their heirs about how to pursue these claims.

The new WJRO webpage can be found at: http://wjro.org.il/our-work/property-restitution-in-warsaw.

WJRO’s website contains detailed information about this new law. In particular, the website contains a database developed by the Claims Conference with information provided by WJRO, to help survivors and their families research whether a claim was filed on their property after the Holocaust.

We are sharing this information with you so that you can share this news with your clients. Thousands of cases remain open and many Holocaust survivors do not remember that they filed claims after the Holocaust. Many of their heirs may not even know that their relative filed claims.

Please note, though, that the new legislation does not create a process to file new claims for those who did not file claims after the Holocaust. Holocaust survivors and their families who did not file claims may want to consult with an attorney to determine if they can claim their property through other means, such as through the courts. WJRO continues to urge the Polish government to pass legislation to enable people to file claims for property in Warsaw and across Poland.

Sincerely,
