Victims of a 1942 raid by Hungarian troops on the Serbian village of Curug were remembered on Saturday.
Historians said at least 1,300 Serbs and Jews were killed 72 years ago when Hungarian troops and police entered the village searching for suspected partisans.
The memorial event organised by the Razzia 1942 Memorial Committee was also attended by representatives of the Hungarian government and Vojvodina Hungarians.
A series of Hungarians raids started in Curug on January 4, 1942 and claimed several thousand victims over nearly a full month. The raids culminated with the massacre of Novi Sad, where, according to Serbian histories, 1,800 Serbs, Jews and Roma were killed by the Hungarian gendarmes.
